Also in the Ukraine, two Siberian tigers may make an exotic addition to the Kiev city zoo. They were recently delivered to the zoo, after being found at a military base near the capital, Kiev. Our Ukrainian team is covering this story from Kiev.

STORY:
Police were investigating how the tigers came to the Ukraine, but it's still unknown who the owners are, or where the tigers came from.

Zoo director Svetlana Berezina says that normally foreign animals have to have special certificates to enter the Ukraine.

[Svetlana Berezina, Zoo Director]: female 1st
"According to our law all the animals that cross the borders of our country has to have the international certificate CITES, which proves that the ownership is agreed upon all the international procedures. Tishka and Abma don't have these certificates."

Gateman Eugene recalls taking care of the tigers at the military base. He says he eventually became quite attached to them.

[Eugene, Gateman]: male 2nd
"When first I came here the tigers already were there. We fed them well -- everyday 7-8 kg if meat to each. And Sunday was the day when tigers didn't eat anything. I worked here for three years and I miss them and sometimes I even dream about them."

Health inspectors initially found the tigers to be in good condition. Tishka and Abma are now inside the Kiev's city zoo awaiting a commission to determine the purity of their breed.

It's likely tigers will stay in the zoo, and Kiev residents will have an exotic, if unexpected, addition to their city.
